Christopher Phillips
Principal, Project Manager, Green Building Consultant
Chris is a LEED Accredited Professional (Canada Green Building Council) and a graduate of the Sustainable Building Design and Construction program at Fleming College and, from April-August 2007, was a member of the team that built RD Lawrence Place in Minden, Ontario. Chris has completed sustainable and healthy building related training in Green Roof Design and Green Roof Infrastructure (Green Roofs for Healthy Cities), Home Defect Recognition and Reporting (Ontario Association of Home Inspectors), Mould Recognition, Assessment and Control (Golder Associates), and Mould Assessment and Remediation (CMHC). Chris is currently completing his Building Biology Environmental Consultant (BBEC) certification at the International Institute for Bau-Biologie and Ecology and his Masters Degree in Building Science at Ryerson University, in Toronto. Chris has a long-standing appreciation for our natural environment and tries to lead his life accordingly. Realising the need to make a difference in an often incredibly wasteful and unhealthy industry, Chris formed Greening Homes in 2007.
Ben Ware
Construction Manager
Ben is the on-site supervisor and lead carpenter for Greening Homes renovation projects. Ben is a third generation renovator and has over 15 years of experience in construction. Ben’s experience ranges from typical bathroom, kitchen and basement projects to full-scale residential additions. He has led several full house renovation projects in the GTA. In a previous life, Ben was a certified river and expedition guide and he continues to have a strong passion for the outdoors and the natural world. He has combined his passions and experience by focusing on sustainability in the design/build and renovation process.

Melanie Scott
Designer
Melanie holds a degree in Interior Design from Ryerson University and is also a graduate of the Sustainable Building Design and Construction program at Fleming College. She has spent the last ten years as a commercial/residential designer with major national retail and financial clients as well as local residential projects. With a keen sense of detail and strong aesthetic, Melanie offers design and consulting services including spatial planning and layouts, elevation/section and detail drawings, fixture and furniture detailing, decor planning, sustainable materials solutions, 3D conceptual renderings, and full CAD design packages that can be sent to architects and engineers for permit. She is passionate about bringing sustainability to the built environment and helping her clients to achieve their design and renovation goals.
Benjamin Scott
Natural Plasters and Masonry
Trained in Europe, Ben is a specialist in the use of natural earthen and lime plasters. He has participated in numerous sustainable building projects, including straw bale building, and the restoration of local historic buildings. Ben is also a certified applicator of American Clay, a zero-VOC natural earthen clay wall finish that Greening Homes recommends for clients interested in a healthy and truly sustainable alternative to paint.
