This Kingsway home was transformed through a main-floor renovation centred around a completely reimagined kitchen. Designed and built by Greening Homes’ in-house team, the project was named a BILD Award finalist for Best Kitchen Under $100K.
The original main floor was divided into separate living, dining, family and kitchen spaces, with a small galley kitchen enclosed at the centre. Greening Homes removed the dividing walls and opened the floor plan, creating a much stronger connection between the principal living spaces and changing how the family could use the home day to day.
At the heart of the new layout is a large central kitchen island, replacing the former boxed-in kitchen with an open and inviting place for cooking, gathering and entertaining. The kitchen now functions as part of the larger living environment rather than as a room separated from it.
Throughout the renovation, Greening Homes incorporated its broader approach to responsible construction, including careful material selection, efficient use of resources, responsible waste management and attention to healthy indoor air quality.
The result is a more open and connected main floor, with the kitchen becoming the natural centre of family life while maintaining the character and scale of the existing Kingsway home.
