THE MORSE PROJECT

At a glance

Project Type : Whole Home Renovation

House Type: Semi-Detached

Location: Leslieville

Recognition: Green Energy Doors Open Participant (2018)

Special Features: Outsulation & Air Tightness

A visible difference in winter performance. Notice the icicles along the neighbouring home’s roofline compared with the home renovated by Greening Homes. Icicles can indicate heat escaping through the roof, melting snow that refreezes at the eaves. Our deep energy renovation incorporated exterior insulation and careful airtightness detailing to help reduce heat loss.

Full House Renovation & Third-Storey Addition

Featured on the front page of the Toronto Star’s Homes & Condos section on October 20, 2018, and in Build with Rise on May 25, 2021, this Leslieville project combined the renovation of a century-old semi-detached home with a new third-storey addition.

The homeowners approached Greening Homes with two complementary goals: expand their living space and improve the home’s energy performance.

Alongside the renovation and addition, the scope included new exterior insulation, also known as “outsulation,” and cladding at the rear of the home across the main and second floors.

Careful airtightness detailing supported the homeowners’ high-performance goals, helping ensure the newly insulated spaces would perform as intended.
